How can you bringing your family to Canada?

If you are a citizen of Canada or have a permanent residence permit in Canada, you can bring your first-degree relatives - your spouse who is a foreign citizen or your long-term partner, your parents - your mother and father, your grandparents to Canada as a sponsor. Decisions about conditions change almost every year.

If you want to sponsor a relative to come to Canada, you and your sponsored relative must be able to cover basic living expenses such as food, clothing, and shelter. You should make sure that your relatives do not need any social assistance.

How to apply

If you want to sponsor your parents and grandparents, you must submit 2 applications online at the same time:

  • You to become a sponsor
  • And your parents or grandparents for permanent residence

If you are invited to apply, you can complete your application in 2 ways:

  • Through the Permanent Residence (PR) Portal if you apply yourself
  • Representative Permanent Residence (PR) Portal if you are using a representative

Who you can sponsor

Note that marriage is not admissible to take advantage of Canada's immigration benefits. Sponsors are not required to have any income if the couple has no children under the age of 22 from a previous marriage. It is important to fill out the forms carefully. Evidence to be added must be properly prepared.

Sponsorship applications may fail if:

If there is insufficient evidence to prove that the marriage is genuine;

  • If the sponsor has any court decision or police report related to domestic violence - domestic violence;
  • If the sponsor previously sponsored another spouse but did not fulfill his obligations properly
  • Due to applications made on the basis of wrong information

Canadian citizens or permanent residents can also sponsor their parents and grandparents for a Super Visa. This visa provides a long-term temporary residence permit. (TRV) This visa is valid for 10 years and is a visa that entitles you to live as a visitor for up to 2 years on each entry into Canada.

The documents required to apply for this visa are as follows:

  • Letter of invitation sent by grandchildren or children living in Canada.
  • Documents confirming that the grandchild or children are eligible for the LICO level.
  • Documents proving the existence of family ties. (Birth certificate)
  • Confirmation of one year health insurance with a Canadian insurance company.

You can sponsor your sibling, nephew, niece and grandchild in the following cases:

  • If you are related to them by blood or if your parents adopted them
  • If your parents are deceased
  • If they are under 18 years of age
  • If they are officially single

You cannot sponsor if:

  • If any of his parents are still alive or missing
  • If they were abandoned by their parents
  • If the parent or parents are being looked after by someone else while they are alive
  • If his parents are in prison

After you apply

The sponsorship application is reviewed during the application evaluation phase. Applications may not be accepted in some cases:

  • If incomplete
  • If there are no sponsorship fees

If your application is accepted, you should:

  • a receipt letter with the application number will be sent you
  • your eligibility as a sponsor will be evaluated
  • whether the sponsor has a permanent residence permit or not in time
